El Asphalt beyed7ak leeh? Abo el solom saye2 3aleeh.

Finally and after about 5 or 6 months of intentions I did it, I went to a driving school and I actually sat behind the wheel and moved a car (lololololoyyyyyyyyyyy).

First, I called a driving school which has it’s cars parked at Mostafa Mahmoud square if you passeed by “El 3ogail” you’d probably see it, I asked for the driving lessons timing and pricing and the guy told me it’s 6 classes on fiat 128 with 120 L.E if “3andak fekra” if not then it’s 10 classes with 200 L.E, when I asked him what’s “el fekra”? he told me that “you drove before” :I, why would I go to a DRIVING school if I already know how to drive he said that this is if you are practicing only!!!

Any way I called another company which is in Sphinx square, they offer 6 classes on fiat 128 with 135 L.E, they have 2 trainers only working on the weekends and thanks Allah that I booked with the friendly one.

I took 2 classes till now, I learned to move forward and backward, put on the neutral, first and second gears and starting the contact then the march. I didn’t know that the car can move while you are not pressing the petrol pedal (forward and backward) also I didn’t think that the petrol pedal is so sensitive. On the second class the trainer told me that in Europe when they made the first car they wanted it to be like a human with the motor as the brain and the fuel as the food so I have to be very gentle to my car, I guess he was high :D .

One thing I learned from those lessons is that whenever I see a person in a driving school’s car I would leave him alone and stay away from the car by 10 meters at least to give him space not stand infront of the car while he’s trying to move it :@#!$%:@#.

I guess that it would take me some time to be able to drive, listen to the music, talk to other people on board, check out “el mozaz” and watch the road at the same time.

Es2al Megarab – Downtown

If you want to walk on “Kasr-El-Nil” bridge walk on the left side (the one at Shepherd and Casino El nil) as it’s usually less crowded than the other one (I got this tip from a friend), If you are walking on 6th of October bridge from downtown towards Agouza walk on the right sidewalk (the one at El Saraya boat and Maspiro building).

Don’t enter Rivoli Cinema and If you did DON’T enter Rivoli 2

If you were going to enter Metro Cinema I suggest that you enter Metro 3 (it’s tickets outlet is inside the cinema to the right) Don’t enter the Metro cinema with the outer ticket outlet

As for Oden cinema the best show screen is Odeon 1 it is the biggest one, one of the other 2 screens has a wall at the right so if you booked try to select a seat to the left.

try not to walk in the streets before 12 am especially talaat harb  and foad street.

it’s better if you don’t go there before 12 am in general. :D

For the food there aren’t much good shops/restaurants there, there’s “El Kazaz” restaurant at talaat-harb square, you can eat “foul, batates, baba ghanoug, tameya” from there they also used to have nice “sogo2″ and “meraba bel 2eshta” but I’m not sure if they are still good. Also there’s a “fatatrey” near Abdeen Palace I guess it’s called “Been el quasreen”.

Lately there’s a phenomena going on which is cafe’s at the roof of some buildings, there’s one at talaat-harb street and another one at foad street,  I went to the one at talaat-harb it is good at summer as there is nice breeze up there but the drinks suck!.

The three P’s

Life is full of bad stuff, things that can bother, annoy or make you out of your mind, as for me there are a lot of those and among which there’s what I call the 3P’s POLICY, PACKAGE and PEOPLE.

Policy
At work if you want to come casual a big no will be waiting, why because this is a big company and it must maintain a good image in front of the customers, what if I don’t deal with customers most of the time actually the place I work in doesn’t receive any customers at all…etc., after a few arguments the usual answer will be “It’s the company’s POLICY”.
At a bigger scale, why don’t we cut all the relations with Israel? “It’s the country’s POLICY”, why don’t the people feel the economic growth that we hear about in the papers? “It’s the government’s POLICY”.
And usually when the conversation comes to this point it means STOP you won’t get any further, my question is WHY? who set’s those policies, why can’t they be wrong and needs replacement, things change that’s the nature of life any thing that’s right today may be wrong the next hour, why can’t the larger policy have a place for the smaller one’s.

Package
I want a VISA card but I don’t want the internet account, “Sorry yafandem deh PACKAGE”, I want to replace items that I don’t need in some offer and replace them with others, although it may be more expensive for me than the original offer but I can’t as “that’s not the PACKAGE”.
Why do I have to pay for something that I don’t need, I’ll just keep it without usage, why can’t I replace this with something I really need. And every time I hear the “PACKAGE” I feel that I’m being cheated and “bat2artas”.

People
Not the people themselves, it’s the phrase “Zay malnas bete3mel” “Like the others”, I called it people to match the third P, what makes the thing agreed upon by the people the right thing?? can’t they all be wrong and I’m right, what about the different circumstances, in my opinion it’s never the same, there’s no correct decision that matches the needs of every one so when I have a situation I must take it as the others did. Prophet Muhammed (sala allah 3aleih wa salam) told a hadeeth with the meaning “If all the people agreed on something good for you, you won’t get it until Allah wants you to and vice versa” so at the end it’s Allah’s will and what you want to do, this doesn’t mean not to listen to any one, experience is important it will benefit you a lot but always remember that it’s was some one’s else choice and what applies to him might not fit you, also it’s very rare that some one will tell you his experience as-is (as it actually happened) he’ll add his flavour to it so you must learn how to separate.

What really annoys me about the 3P’s is that I reach “7eta sadd”, every thing that’s told after would be useless.

Tick, tick, tick, ….

Yesterday(Jan, 7) made it to the worst 5 or even 3 days in my life (Go Yesterday!!), a quick recap: I had an exam in my premasters and i knew absolutely nuthing about the subject except for the past 2 days i started studying, to be honest i had some time (not much) to study through out the semester but i didn’t, so in those days i went to study with my friends hoping to understand something (BTW thanks a lot guys, if it wasn’t for you i wouldn’t have written a word in the exam).

Question: What’s worse?

1. Something bad happens to you

2. Waiting for something (good or bad) to happen

(Beeeeeep) something bad happening to you isn’t the worse it’s the waiting that kills you and while you are waiting for something like that “Time goes by so slowly”, when i woke up on the exam morning all i wished for is the end of the day whether i did well or didn’t write any thing in that case i’ll stop worrying and doing the possibilities math if i passed thanks ALLAH for that, if i didn’t thanks ALLAH too i won’t be the first or last one to fail an exam.

I beleive that if you pulled in some effort a reward will be waiting, ALLAH doesn’t waste any body’s work, and if you didn’t do what you are supposed to then don’t wait for someone to cheat from in the exam or something, just know that you don’t deserve to succeed.

When i thought about what happened I waited for an exam it’s 3 hours after all but how would be the feeling of some one sentenced to death and waiting for the execution???, I think that if he was convicted today and executed the day after it there won’t be a problem but waiting for a week or a month (i don’t know how long it takes, never been there) is worse that the sentence itself

Wii WoW Wii

Are you a “Flash” reader? If your aren’t “Flash” is an Egyptian comics book written and drawn by Khalid el Safti, a very talented and funny writer, suppose you are a reader, do you remember the story where scientist Mafhoum invented a TV that kinda stimulates what’s shown inside it, i.e., if there’s a party the singer would jump out of the TV and sings for you, if there’s a match the players would be playing at your living room, well last Wednesday (Feb 27) I saw that we took a step towards that dream.

I was in Cairo ICT 2008 with some of my friends, one of them was getting a laptop, it was my first time to ICT (I went to Acitex and other computer fairs before but not ICT) so I thought that it’s free to enter, but I found out that you must have an invitation or buy a 10 L.E ticket, we couldn’t go home and waste that time so I paid he ticket (I wasn’t pleased and the month was over and so was the money :D ).

We walked through the halls and saw some great stuff, till I reached to the TEData section and saw the Nintendo Wii there, I won’t talk about it the video will, it was free to try Allah bless you TEData, any way at the end of the day I was so happy (we didn’t buy any thing from there) and I hope that next year there would be a COOLer thing there.
